In around March and April I contacted support because the touchscreen would randomly touch points on the screen. I chose to get the touch screen option and that has been nothing but problems. I have a dell xps 17 laptop purchased late December and delivered January 5th 2012. A second tech didn’t help all that much, and now it’s at Dell’s repair depot, still not getting the touchscreen fixed. A Dell technician came to his house, didn’t fix the problem, and broke his headphone port. The touchscreen keeps touching itself, moving the pointer to random points on the screen and disrupting whatever he’s doing. He got a new laptop at the beginning of the year, and it’s no longer working all that well.
That’s very exciting, but he’s nervous that he’ll be heading to school with no computer or no working computer. Try the Search+ Shift+ T shortcut again to see if it works.Travis is heading to college in a few weeks. If your Chromebook does not respond to the Search+ Shift+ T shortcut, open the Chrome browser, type chrome://flags/#ash-debug-shortcuts in the address bar, and enable the debugging keyboard shortcuts option. Press Search+ Shift+ T to toggle the touch screen and try to enable it. Most Chromebooks have a keyboard shortcut to toggle touch screen functionality.
If it still is not working, it could be defective and needs to be repaired. Also, wash your hands to remove any oils, and dry them thoroughly, then try using the touch screen again.
If the touch screen is not working, try cleaning the screen to remove any dirt, dust, and fingerprints.
